Scaling

Polishing (Traditional or ProphyJet)

After scaling, polishing is performed to clean the surface of the teeth, remove superficial stains and leave the teeth feeling smooth. This step also helps reduce plaque buildup and leaves a fresh, clean feeling.

Polishing can be performed using a traditional method with a polishing paste to smooth the tooth surface and remove light stains. Depending on the patient’s needs, it may also be performed using the ProphyJet system, which uses a combination of air, water and fine powder to clean the teeth and remove stains caused by certain foods and beverages.
